Privacy Policy

Radish is a macro and calorie tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch. It is designed to be local-first: your information lives on your own device, not on our servers. We do not run a backend, we do not have user accounts, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data. This policy explains exactly what that means.

Information stored on your device

Radish stores the things you enter so the app can work. For example:

• Foods, meals, and recipes you log, and the date/time and meal they belong to
• Your weight entries and goals
• Your profile inputs for goal estimation (such as height, weight, age, biological sex, and activity level), used only to calculate your targets, on device
• Your settings and preferences

This information is saved locally using Apple's on-device database. We have no access to it. If you delete the app, the locally stored data is removed with it.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, Radish uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your data in sync across your devices. That data is stored in your own private iCloud account, governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. It is the user's data, and the developer cannot see or access it. You can turn sync off at any time, and you can manage or delete this data through your iCloud storage settings.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, Radish writes the nutrition you log (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, plus sugar, fiber, sodium, saturated fat, and caffeine if you choose to track them) to the Apple Health app so your nutrition stays in sync there.

• If you turn on the optional exercise calories feature, Radish reads only your workouts and active energy burned from Apple Health, used only on your device to adjust that day's calorie and macro budget. Radish reads no other health data, and nothing at all if the feature stays off.
• Health data is never transmitted off your device by Radish; it is handed to Apple Health, which you control.
• Data Radish writes to Health is not used for advertising or shared with third parties.
• You can revoke Health access at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings, and you can delete entries Radish created from within Radish or the Health app.

Camera (barcode scanning)

Radish uses the camera only to scan food barcodes. The camera image is processed on your device to read the barcode; images are not stored and not transmitted.

Microphone & speech recognition (describe a meal)

Radish uses the microphone only when you tap the microphone button to describe a meal out loud. Your speech is converted to text so the app can recognize the foods you named.

• Recognition runs on your device whenever your device supports it. Nothing leaves your phone.
• If your device does not support on-device speech recognition, the audio is sent to Apple's speech recognition service to be transcribed, governed by Apple's privacy policy. Radish itself never receives or stores your audio.
• The microphone is off unless you start it, and it stops as soon as you finish. Audio is not saved by Radish and is never sent to us.
• The resulting text is used only to match the foods you spoke against the food database; the nutrition comes from the database, not from your recording.
• You can revoke microphone or speech-recognition access at any time in iOS Settings. You can still describe a meal by typing it instead.

Food lookups (Open Food Facts)

When you scan a barcode or search for branded foods, Radish sends only the barcode number or the text you searched to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), a free, open, third-party food database, in order to retrieve nutrition facts. These requests do not include your name, account, device identifiers, or any of your logged data, just the barcode or search term. Open Food Facts has its own privacy policy.

Generic foods are searched against a database bundled inside the app, which requires no network connection at all.

Purchases

Radish is a one-time purchase (no subscription). Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID. Radish does not receive or store your payment details. Your purchase restores for free on your devices via your Apple ID. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

What we do not do

• We do not collect or transmit your personal information to our own servers (we have none).
• We do not use analytics or crash-tracking SDKs.
• We do not show advertising or use advertising identifiers.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

Age requirement and children's privacy

Radish is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. The app prescribes calorie and macro targets using adult formulas (Mifflin–St Jeor, plus standard adult weight-management guidance), which are not appropriate for children or adolescents. Guided setup asks your age and will not build a plan for anyone under 18.

Radish is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age. Because the app collects no personal information at all and has no accounts, no data is gathered regardless of who is using it. If a minor has used Radish on your device, deleting the app removes everything it stored locally.

Your control and data deletion

• Local data: delete entries within the app, or delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
• iCloud data: turn off iCloud Sync and/or delete the data through your iCloud account.
• Health data: manage or delete Radish's entries in the Apple Health app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same URL. Material changes will be reflected in an app update where appropriate.
